G'day
Welcome to the Amazon Teal Web Template for FrontPage 98
and 2000.
(Written for FrontPage
2000)
This web template will work
correctly in FrontPage 98 and FrontPage 2000.
However, when editing this template please note that FrontPage
2000 adds a 2 pixel transparent area to all
the Components (Banner, Navigation bar, Hit Counter, Frontlook
Applets etc.). FrontPage 98 does not.
Why Bill, @#%*#! why?
This is a Microsoft documented
FrontPage 2000 "bug"

Please visit
here
to see what you can do to this theme by adding text or a logo
to the extra graphics. You can do it right here in FrontPage
by clicking on the graphic and then selecting A
(add text) from the image editing toolbar below. (tutorial).
You can also add a Frontlook Applet
Please
note: This theme's template
is made from many tables who's cells have background pictures
to "fill in the gaps" when a theme's components (Banner or Navigation
bars) are not used and for when the page is viewed with high
resolution monitors. Please be aware that a table cell
MUST have some content (text,
picture, component or even 2 or more empty key spaces will do)
for it's background picture to display correctly in the
Netscape browser. So........
If you remove a cell's content be sure to replace it with something
else. I recommend that you insert the cell's actual
background picture into the cell itself because then the
cell will retain it's height and / or width size. Ok.
Frontlook Applet

This page has a
Frontlook Applet (Series 2) above the left navigation
bar.
You must have Frontlook installed on your computer to be
able to use it. Double click it to initiate it and edit
it.

If you wish not to use it just click it and
delete it.
You can insert any of the Frontlook Applets into this table cell
or you can just type some text, insert your logo, insert
a graphic or just delete it all together.

J-Bots Components
You
can even add any of the 50 components that are included
when you purchase the J-Bots Plus2000 package.
I have used the Drop Down Jump List under the logo graphic
on this page (not included with the Amazon Teal theme and templates).
J-Bots Plus2000 is software to enhance your Microsoft
FrontPage 98 and FrontPage 2000 web sites. The add-in tools extend
the functionality of your web sites, beyond what you can do in
FrontPage. The best part is, you don't have to program!
Very Important

It's very difficult to get a theme such
as Amazon Teal to work within both IE and Netscape
browsers. Basically what works in one browser doesn't necessarily
work in the other, especially table content.
I had a Hell of a job getting this theme
to work in FrontPage and both browsers. It has been
thoroughly tested and I GUARANTEE that it will work
for you too so long as you only change the page's content and
DO NOT remove any of the FrontPage Components
(Banner, Navigation bar, Hit Counter, Frontlook
Applets etc.) or graphics.

Our first versions of this template used Include
Pages, however, FP 2002 does not display them correctly. The FP
2002 version of this template does not use include pages. You
will need to go into each page to change the content.

I made this Web Template
because this is a fairly complicated theme.
By using this template you shouldn't have
any trouble creating a new web with the Amazon
Teal theme and all the "extras" automatically
applied for you. It will look just like this one (for those
reading this on my website).
All that you have to do is add your content and add or
delete any pages to make this web more suitable to your needs.
Firstly please click File | Preview in
Browser (you might have to connect to the Internet) to
have a look at this web to see how it all works.
Now you can work out what pages you want
to add or delete.
How to delete a page from this web.
Open the Navigation View by pressing the
button named "Navigation" in the toolbar to the
left.
You will now be looking at this web's navigation structure in
the main panel and the folders and files in the
side panel.
Click on the page that you want to remove and then press Edit
| Delete (X) from the toolbar.
How to add a page to this web.
Firstly you will notice that the titles
of each page that are on the Same Level as this
one in this web appear on the buttons on the navigation bar to
the left. This is because I've already dragged and dropped
each page into the navigation view.
Next we will add a new page
to this web.
In FrontPage 2000 press "File"
and then press "New Page". You will now
have a long list of page templates to choose from. Click "PV
Amazon Teal" or
if you want to use a template page that
uses "Include Pages" for the
top, bottom and right hand side like the rest of this web, use
the template.htm page or any
existing page from this web. Just
add your own content to the page and then click File |
Save As. Type in your page title and URL
and click OK. Now go to Navigation View and
add your new page to the navigation structure. Easy!
You will notice that there is no banner
and buttons, just writing.
This is because we haven't saved, or added our new page
to the navigation structure yet.
Now save the new page and type in the
URL as newpage.htm and type in the Title
as New Page (you can name these anything you want).
Open the Navigation View by clicking the
Navigation button on the toolbar to the left. Then drag
newpage.htm from the side panel into the main
window and connect and drop it at your desired navigation level.
That's all there is to it.
I have made a detailed tutorial
(FrontPage 98) with pictures and all on how to add new pages to
the navigation structure. It's available here
http://www.paulsfrontpagethemes.com/tutorial.htm
Now double click on "New Page"
in the navigation view and this will open and
refresh the page in the main window.
You will now see that the banner says "New Page"
and all the buttons, including the one named "New Page"
(if you placed it on the same level as this page) has been
added to the navigation bar too.
If you double click on the vertical navigation
bar to the left you will see that I have set it at "Same
Level", "Vertical" and "Buttons".
Please note: The navigation
bars are set at various levels throughout this web to compensate
for different page's navigation level.
If you have a look at the navigation view
again you will see that all the pages that are on the
Same Level as this Read Me First page,
their page titles appear on the left vertical navigation bar.
This web's pages use nested tables with
tilling background images so as to appear to
stretch or shrink to accommodate any browser
size.
I recommend that a web made with the
Amazon Teal theme and template be viewed by browsers set at
600 x 800.
This web template has been thoroughly tested
to work properly with both Internet Explorer
and Netscape Navigator versions 4 and higher
browsers.
